Local Government Ombudsman announces name change

July 2017

The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has announced that it has changed its name to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LG&SCO). The reason for the name change is to increase awareness that the organisation looks at complaints about all areas of adult social care, including privately arranged or funded care.

LG&SCO is the final stage for complaints about councils, all adult social care providers (including care homes and home care agencies) and some other organisations providing local public services.

The LG&SCO has confirmed that, since it is not undertaking a large-scale rebrand, its name change will be phased in when documents and materials need updating. Therefore, references to the LGO will continue to be seen in some of its materials.

Their website remains at http://www.lgo.org.uk or you can call them on 0300 061 0614 for help making a complaint.
